The Pivot IS the Win

The Pivot IS the Win

I hope you've all had an inspiring week. I certainly have. I'm currently on the east coast with the band because we're headlining a festival tonight, but before we take the stage, I wanted to share some insights I've had this week.

As a coach who specializes in self-worth and true self-love, one of the biggest things I work on with my clients is teaching what I call the pivot.

We all have those moments when old thoughts, old stories, and old patterns creep back in. Especially in the beginning, when we've decided we want something different for our lives. We're human. The thoughts don't suddenly disappear because we decided to change.

The goal was never to stop having them.

The goal is to notice them.

This week, something must have been in the air because nearly every one of my clients said some version of the same thing: "I'm so disappointed that I'm still thinking this way."

Been there.

We catch ourselves falling into an old pattern, and instead of celebrating that we noticed it, we shame ourselves for having the thought in the first place.

It's almost like we believe that doing the work means we should never struggle again.

I wish it worked that way. But it doesn't.

The work isn't about becoming someone who never has fearful thoughts. The work is becoming someone who notices them a little sooner.

And then.. We pivot.

That's the win.

Not perfection.

Not never getting triggered.

Not arriving at some magical place where you've got life completely figured out.

The win is catching yourself before the old story becomes today's reality.

I remember being a kid and looking at adults my age thinking they had life completely figured out. I laugh at that now. Because the truth is, we're all still learning. We're all still healing. We're all still becoming.

The difference isn't that some people have mastered life while others haven't. The difference is that some people have learned to be kinder to themselves in the process.

So if you've caught yourself slipping into old thoughts this week... Please don't make that mean you've failed.

Make it mean you're paying attention. Because awareness is where change begins.

Every pivot is proof that you're growing.

Every time you choose a new thought over an old story, you're strengthening a new pathway.

That's worth celebrating.

So this week, if you catch yourself in one of those old patterns, don't ask,"Why am I still like this?" Instead, try asking, "What would the version of me who trusts herself choose next?"

Sometimes the biggest win isn't that the old thought disappeared. It's that you finally knew not to believe it.

If you've been working on your self-worth and could use someone to help you recognize those patterns a little sooner, I'd love to walk alongside you. I have a few coaching spots available, and together we'll practice the pivots that slowly, consistently change your life.

Until next week...

I love you,

Lindsay M.
